Oklahoma Sooners Preview:
The No. 4 ranked team in the country got all they could handle in week 3 against one of their biggest rivals in Nebraska. This was a close for pretty much all of this contest, but the Sooner did just enough to rattle off a win 23-16. Let’s take a closer look to Sooners at Mountaineers betting preview.
This keeps the Sooners undefeated on the season, but two of their three games have been a battle. Tulane pushed the Sooner to the wire before they eventually beat up Western Carolina 76-0.
At the start of the season, the Sooner quarterback was easily the favorite to bring home the Heisman, but he has not lived up to the hype despite his team being unbeaten.
Rattler had a pedestrian game against the Cornhuskers, throwing for 214 yards and a touchdown. Rattler’s lackluster play has dropped him down to third in the voting for Heisman this season.
The Sooner will get the primetime game on ABC Saturday night and are currently sitting as 15.5 point home favorites. In their last game, Oklahoma did a good job of managing the clock late and limiting the Cornhuskers’ possessions.
This offense will need to wake up before too long, and Rattler will have to find his groove, or this team could be in trouble, and an upset could be on the horizon in Norman.
West Virginia Mountaineers Preview:
West Virginia is coming off a huge upset win against the No. 15 ranked Virginia Tech Hokies. The Mountaineers find themselves at 2-1 in the early going after losing their opener to Maryland before beating Long Island University 66-0.
They squeaked by a strong Hokie team 27-21. This is one of the bigger conference games the Mountaineers will play this season, and they have all the momentum needed.
Leddie Brown was terrific against the Hokies, carrying the ball 19 times for 161 yards and one touchdown. If the Mountaineers are hoping to leave Norman with a victory, they are going to need Brown to be instrumental in their game plan.
Thanks to one standout statistic, the fifth-year leader at the quarterback position, Jarret Doege, has to be excited about getting to play the Sooner.
The Sooner is in the bottom 20% of college football in completion percentage allowed at 60%. Doege is 53/88 with six touchdowns and three interceptions.
Doege utilizes his out-core very well as seven receivers average double digits yards per catch. What will make or break this matchup for the Mountaineers is turnovers, as this team sports a rate of -3 per game.
These two storied football programs have met a total of 12 times, with Sooner leading the head-to-head matchup 10-2 over the Mountaineers.
In their last meeting dating back to 2019 before the Covid season, the Sooners destroyed the Mountaineers 54-14. This game shouldn’t be like that, and 15.5 might be a reach. Expect a one-score game staying under.
