Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Having an experience first-year coach like Doug Pederson has paid dividends for Jacksonville. Last week, many people making NFL picks got burned picking against the Jaguars against the preseason AFC South division’s favorite Indianapolis Colts.
The Jaguars defense harassed Matt Ryan, forcing three interceptions, and relegated star running back Jonathan Taylor to spot duty.
Playing against a Los Angeles Chargers side with a banged-up quarterback in Justin Herbert presents another opportunity to Jacksonville.
Herberts’ Injuries
Herbert did play last Thursday, so he had extra time to rest, but having an injury to the ribs won’t be easy to heal from in such a short amount of time.
Jacksonville, which also played the Washington Commanders close in a Week 1 loss, maybe better than people thought. The Jaguars will cover the points on the road.
NFL Pick: Jaguars +7 (-110)
Carolina Panthers vs. New Orleans Saints
When it comes to NFL matchups, the one between the Panthers and Saints is especially important for the home team.
Carolina is 0-2 on the season and hasn’t had a successful start to the Baker Mayfield era. While the Panthers are winless, they have been in both games they played.
Carolina lost a close one on a last-second field goal in Week 1 and fell short of a comeback against the Giants.
Saints’ Quarterback
New Orleans got bullied by Tampa Bay and Tom Brady last week. Saints quarterback Jameis Winston went through one of his turnover cycles, tossing three interceptions during a 20-10 loss.
New Orleans has shown promise early in the season, but its success may hinge on what version of Winston they get.
If Winston can keep his accuracy up, they can win games. If not, road games like this one against Carolina will be difficult. Take the Panthers as home underdogs.
NFL Pick: Panthers (+135)
Baltimore Ravens vs. New England Patriots
NFL stats show the Ravens had a memorable collapse against the Miami Dolphins last week.
With Baltimore’s secondary getting banged up, not even a superb performance from Lamar Jackson could prevent the Ravens from blowing a 21-point lead. But New England isn’t the same kind of team as Miami.
Patriots’ Offense
The Patriots’ offense isn’t going to put up a ton of points this season and will need to lean on its defense. Mac Jones is a competent NFL quarterback but hasn’t made a ton of big plays this season.
Baltimore will be fired up from an upsetting loss last week and be able to hang more points on New England than it can keep up with.
NFL Pick: Ravens -3 (+100)
Arizona Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Rams
The Cardinals rallied from a 20-point halftime deficit to score an overtime win over Las Vegas to improve to 1-1.
While Arizona has flaws throughout the lineup, the Cardinals’ offense has the power to explode and put up numbers behind quarterback Kyler Murray. Los Angeles is still shaking off the Super Bowl hangover.
The Rams got blasted by Buffalo in Week 1, but NFL odds indicate the Bills are one of the top contenders for the Super Bowl.
Rams’ Struggle
Anyone making the best NFL bets Week 3 will also see that Los Angeles struggled to close out the Falcons last week, allowing 17 points during a 31-27 win.
This isn’t a game Arizona may win, but there is a good chance the Cardinals will cover the points at home.
NFL Pick: Cardinals +3.5 (+110)
San Francisco 49ers vs. Denver Broncos
The Russell Wilson experiment in Denver is off to a rocky start. The Broncos offense haven’t been moving in concert, which has resulted in underwhelming performances against the Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans.
San Francisco was reinvigorated in NFL Week 2 by Jimmy Garoppolo stepping under center following Trey Lance’s injury.
While the 49ers may look to turn back to Lance later in the season, having an experienced backup gives them an edge.
Trusting a Veteran
Garoppolo completed 61.9 percent of his passes for 154 yards and a touchdown during San Francisco’s win over Seattle last week.
Trusting a veteran 49ers quarterback will allow bettors to make one of the best NFL bets Week 3.
NFL Pick: 49rs -1 (-120)
