It’s time for Week 9 action in the NFL. One of the more intriguing NFL matchups this week is the Las Vegas Raiders going to Jacksonville to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Both teams come in with only two wins so far this year, so getting a win here will be crucial for either team to move up in the NFL standings and keep their hopes of the playoffs alive. If you’re looking for Raiders vs Jaguars’ best bets, breakdown, and analysis, you’ve come to the right spot.
Las Vegas Raiders vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Raiders Current Odds
The Raiders odds currently have them as -1.5 favorites over the Jags. The moneyline is priced at -125, with a point total of 48 points. However, a trend to keep in mind is that the Raiders haven’t covered this year as a favorite on the road, mainly because they haven’t won on the road this year.
Jaguars Current Odds
The spread currently sits with the Jaguars as +1.5 underdogs, with a moneyline priced at +105. The lines being the way they currently are, set up some of the jaguars betting picks to be some of my overall Raiders vs Jaguars’ best bets, even though they’re on a five-game losing streak against the spread.
Raiders Strengths and Weakness
The Raiders’ biggest strength is their rushing offense, which makes fans wonder why they don’t run the ball more. Though when looking at NFL team stats, they rank 30th in the league in rushes per game. They rank 18th in rush yards per game. Josh Jacobs leads their rushing attack and is one of the best backs, proving he can put the team on his back as the Raiders are 2-1 when Jacobs has 20+ carries, with the one loss being a one-point loss to Kansas City.
Vegas’ biggest weakness, other than not utilizing Jacobs enough, is their pass defense which is at the bottom of the league across all passing and defensive stats. With an opponent completion rate sitting at 69.2% for the season, Trevor Lawrence may have a big day as he has already proven in his short career to be able to take advantage of bad defenses.
Jaguars Strengths and Weakness
The Jaguars are a young football team, and though they may only have two wins, they are sneakily strong in certain facets of the game. They will be a hard team to stop when they pull it all together. The Jags are 10th in the league in points allowed per game and 4th in opponent rush yards a carry. This could encourage the Raiders to give up on the run, which, as we’ve already discussed, they’re already inclined to do.
Their biggest strength on offense is Travis Etienne Jr. When looking at NFL player stats, he ranks 3rd in the league in average yards a carry at 6.2 and 6th in the league for rushing yards at 571. Their weakness is definitely Trevor Lawerence. Though he shows flashes of greatness, he also shows his youth as he has six interceptions on the year.
Team Season Forecast
Season Forecast for Raiders
As far as the NFL injury report is concerned for the Raiders, Darren Waller has been listed as out for an otherwise healthy Raiders team. This team doesn’t look like they’ve put it together at all, which is bad because they’ve already gone through their bye week. I see them picking up a couple more wins down the road, but I don’t see any way for this team to meet the expectations set for them when the roster was put together in the off-season. I have the Raiders finishing 6-11.
Season Forecast for Jaguars
Jamal Agnew is the only new injury for the Jaguars this week. This Jaguars team is still young. I think we are seeing what a true rookie year would’ve looked like for Trevor Lawrence had he had a competent coaching staff last year.
The Jaguars are getting the pieces and have a solid foundation to build and develop their team. However, they’re still figuring it all out, and the NFL schedule is not kind to them down the stretch. I have the Jags finishing 6-11.
What to Expect from this Matchup?
I expect the game to be close. The Jaguars’ run game may start a little sluggish as I expect the London trip to still disrupt the rest cycle as they returned earlier this week. The Raiders will not find success on the ground early, encouraging Josh McDaniels to throw out the run plays completely. Trevor Lawerence will find success in the air showing NFL fans some of his full potential late in the game, which will ultimately be the difference for the Jags. this information is important to picking our Raiders vs Jaguars Best Bets.
Raiders vs. Jaguars Prediction and Best Bests
Jaguars Moneyline: +105
The Raiders don’t win on the road and have only shown fans reasons not to trust them as a team, while the Jaguars have an opposite narrative where they’ve been giving fans reasons to believe. I like the Jaguars to win in what could be a pivotal point in Lawerence’s development.
Under 48
Of the two bets, this is my favorite Raiders vs Jaguars best bets. This will be a close game. I especially like the under with league scoring down across the board and these two teams playing. My projected score is 23-21 for the Jaguars. I’d play the under to 46.5.
