Denver Broncos vs. Arizona Cardinals Betting Preview
The Denver Broncos are under new leadership this season. Out is Nathaniel Hackett after one season, and in comes Sean Payton. Payton, the long-time New Orleans Saints head coach, is back and ready to get the Broncos back to the postseason.
The Denver Broncos odds got better when Payton was announced as the new head coach. It will not be an easy task, as they played in a tough AFC West with the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs, along with a surging Los Angeles Chargers squad.
First things first, Russell Wilson will have to be better. His second year in Denver must be an improvement. 2022 was terrible for the former Seahawks signal caller.
Touchdowns & Tumbles
Looking at the past NFL player stats, Wilson finished the season with 3,524 passing yards in 15 games but threw 11 interceptions and just 16 touchdowns. Backing up Wilson this season will be Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci. We expect those two guys to get chances in this game.
Latavius Murray was the top running back a season ago for the Broncos. He has moved on, and the Broncos are begging for a healthy Javonte Williams. While Williams will not be ready for this game, they are excited about his potential.
Samaje Perine, Troy Jones Jr, and Tyler Badie appear to be the guys in line to get carries for the Broncos. Denver opens their 2023 season with back-to-back home games. The NFL schedule for the Broncos – welcome the Raiders to town September 10th, and then the Commanders September 17th.
Cardinals’ Commitment
Based on the previous season’s NFL team stats, the Arizona Cardinals are projected to be the worst team in the National Football League in 2023. The Cardinals, though, did draft some players they feel can help.
Paris Johnson Jr, the offensive tackle out of Ohio State, was their 6th overall pick, but his NFL MVP odds are slim. BJ Ojulari from LSU, Garrett Williams from Syracuse, and Michael Williams out of Stanford all hope to contribute to this squad in 2023.
After an injury-riddled season in 2022, Kyler Murray is back for the Cardinals, but his status is in question. Murray played 11 games a season ago and forced four other guys into action after his injury.
Changing Cast
The other four guys combined for three touchdowns and ten interceptions. The 2023 Cardinals will see Colt McCoy start in place of Murray, with Clayton Tune and David Blough remaining as backups.
Gone is DeAndre Hopkins and that will leave quite a hole to throw to. James Conner returns as the running back to get the most carries, but look for guys like Ty’son Williams and Corey Clement to get opportunities.
If you are going to make some outright Arizona Cardinals picks, keep in mind that Arizona starts their 2023 regular season on September 10th on the road at the Washington Commanders before they come back for home games against the Giants and Cowboys.
Denver Broncos vs. Arizona Cardinals Betting Prediction
This should be one of the interesting NFL Matchups. Both teams have a ton to prove. Despite it being a preseason game, the Cardinals are going to play hard, as they know they have to in order to survive this league. The spread seems too high.
Barring any recent additions to the NFL injury report, taking the Arizona Cardinals +5.5 is the way to go, and not out of the question to take Arizona +185 on the moneyline.
- Our final Broncos vs Cardinals Betting Analysis: Denver 21-20 over Arizona.
