The Lions are last in the NFC North with an 0-7 record and are coming off a 28-19 road loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Eagles at Lions Stats
Rookie Playing Like a Vet
The Philadelphia Eagles have been trying to get the most out of rookie wide receiver DeVonta Smith as he has racked up 32 receptions for 406 yards (12.7 yards per catch) and a touchdown this season. The 10th-overall pick last year had a good game against the Las Vegas Raiders as Smith finished with five receptions on nine targets for 61 yards (12.2 yards per catch). If he can figure out how to find the end zone, it will help the Philly offense get going.
The Philadelphia Eagles defense has been leaning towards being iffy this season as they are allowing 26.4 points per game. In their previous game against the Las Vegas Raiders, they gave up 33 points on 442 yards of offense (323 passing, 119 rushings). The Eagles need to get stops as the Raiders averaged seven yards per play in the game. The team was solid at not making mistakes as they had four penalties all day for 37 yards. If Philadelphia can figure out how to force field goals, it will be a great sign.
More Than an RB
The Detroit Lions are implementing running back D’Andre Swift in all facets of the offense this season as he has 78 carries for 262 yards (3.4 yards per attempt) with three rushing touchdowns as well as 42 catches for 391 yards (9.3 yards per reception) with a pair of touchdown catches. In his last game against the Los Angeles Rams, Swift finished with 13 rushes for 48 yards (3.7 yards per run), eight catches for 96 yards (12 yards per reception), and a receiving touchdown. If he can clean up some yards here, it will do wonders for the Detroit Lions.
This season, the Detroit Lions have been struggling on the defensive side of the game as they are allowing 28.6 points per game. In their previous game against the Los Angeles Rams, the Lions gave up 28 points on 374 total yards of offense (327 passing, 47 rushings). As Los Angeles went 9-of-13 on third down, Detroit needed to get stops and failed to convert their only fourth-down attempt. The Lions did an excellent job at stopping the run as the Rams averaged 2.5 rushing yards per run. If the Detroit Lions can do better here, they can get Dan Campbell his first NFL win.
Who to Bet Eagles at Lions
Jared Goff has struggled as he has one touchdown to four interceptions in his last three games, while Jalen Hurts three touchdowns to two interceptions in his previous three games, so both quarterbacks are shaky at best. The Eagles are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games against the Lions. All in all, go with the Detroit Lions to cover the spread at home here but the Philadelphia Eagles to win.
