Bronny James already has shown flashes of having the potential to be a very good NBA player stats, as many around the game have taken notice of his skill set.
“He’s already smart and skilled, a reliable shooter, willing ball-mover, and solid defender, so it’s really more about the nuances of the position and running a team,” 247Sports’ director of scouting Adam Finkelstein said about his abilities and what it may take for him to take his game to the next level.
“He plays with tremendous maturity, especially given the microscope he’s under, so I think he has the temperament for the position.”
Elder James: Made a Name by Himself
The elder James has made a name for himself not only as an elite scorer but also as an elite playmaker.
“What stands out now is that he’s starting to assert himself as more of a primary playmaker after historically being someone who would almost always make the right play but not always stand out, which was obviously a little counterintuitive given all the early hype around him,” Finkelstein said.
In order for Bronny James to realize the same type of potential that his legendary father has already realized, he’ll have to do more than just rely on his natural abilities.
“The biggest step to take in the immediate future is to be more consistent and play with a little more fire,” 247Sports’ national basketball director Eric Bossi said.
“Bronny seems like a very good teammate and somebody that would be fun to play with because of that, but the time for him to be more aggressive is here.
He can knock down shots in catch-and-shoot situations, and I’d love to see him using his strength a bit more to his advantage and for him to put more pressure on defenders as a driver because he can open up the floor a bit for teammates when he’s playing a more active role.”
G-League Ignite
Bronny James now has two paths to the NBA as things currently stand. He can choose to go to college or sign on with the G-League Ignite. The college route seems a lot more likely at this point in time.
- UCLA
- USC
- Michigan
- Ohio State
- Oregon
Are the teams who have shown interest in Bronny James, but the Wolverines and Bruins aren’t actively recruiting him at this time?
The Ohio State Buckeyes would be a tremendous fit for Bronny James, as they offer him the luxury of being close to home and repping his father’s favorite college football teams.
With the College Basketball stats the younger James could put up with his skills, and he could very well also increase the Buckeyes’ NCAAB odds to win the March Madness Tournament.
Football right now is the biggest deal down in Columbus, so LeBron and company could very well be studying some college football betting guides to try and earn some extra cash.
Being at Ohio State gives Bronny James an empty canvas, as the program is starved for a deep run in the tournament and a player they can rally around, especially one with the recognition of being related to LeBron James.
Can the Buckeyes Go Far?
If all goes according to plan, NCAAB expert picks could have the Buckeyes going far in the tourney.
If the Buckeyes don’t work out for Bronny James, then Oregon could be a great fit, as the Ducks are close to the Nike headquarters, which his father does plenty of business with.
Bronny James could bring the Ducks some much-needed buzz to their college basketball program, and behind the scenes, LeBron and Nike could work with Bronny to help give him some more recognition in pursuit of his goal of entering the NBA Draft.
USC Trojans
The USC Trojans could also be a great fit, as that’ll allow him to be close to his family’s home in Los Angeles.
Although they aren’t known to be interested, the Kentucky Wildcats could be a sleeper here. They have had some of the best talents in the NBA come from their program over the last decade, including:
- Anthony Davis
- Karl-Anthony Towns
- Devin Booker
Wherever Bronny goes, there will be cameras all on him.
