Making NFL parlay picks requires having a good sense of where each NFL team is at. From week to week, things can swing wildly.
Betting on the NFL requires having a good idea of where teams are at and some luck that it isn’t their week to fall flat on their faces.
For Week 10, there are a pair of games on the NFL schedule involving teams from the NFC South that are worth looking at.
One game involves two teams, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks, that are both surprise teams. The Buccaneers aren’t meeting expectations, while the Seahawks are far exceeding theirs.
In the other game, many people looking at the NFL standings would be surprised to see the Pittsburgh Steelers are being forced to rebuild after nearly 20 years of success.
The New Orleans Saints hope to take advantage of Pittsburgh’s struggles to stay in the NFC Playoff race.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks completed a season sweep of Arizona and are sitting atop the NFC West. When it comes to NFL team stats, Seattle’s offense has found a way to be successful and overcome a mediocre at best defense during their 6-3 start.
The Seahawks are fourth in the league in points scored, putting up 26.8 per game.
Rookies Supporting Veterans
Seattle has also been able to rely on rookie running back Kenneth Walker III to support veteran quarterback Geno Smith.
Smith, a former second-round pick in 2013 by the New York Jets, leads the Seahawks with 2,199 yards so far this season. If there is a place Seattle could use some fine-tuning, it is on defense.
Seahawks’ Defense
Making NFL parlay picks on Seattle shows that what the Seahawks’ defense does best is force turnovers. Seattle is seventh in the league, having forced 13.
However, Seattle is also giving up 24.4 points per game, which ranks 22nd in the league. The Seahawks are 6-3 against the spread.
Tampa Bay
NFL odds show that if the Buccaneers were in any other division, they’d be in real danger of missing the playoffs.
NFC South’s Struggle
However, the NFC South’s struggles have kept Tampa Bay alive. The Buccaneers, who are 2-6-1 against the spread, have a strong defense.
Tampa Bay is fifth in the league in points allowed, only giving up 18.2 points per game. Tampa Bay’s defense is especially good against the pass, only gaining 187.8 yards per game.
Brady’s Performance
NFL player stats show that Tom Brady may be finally showing his age. Brady has passed for 2,547 yards but hasn’t looked as sharp as in previous seasons.
NFL parlay picks show that Tampa Bay’s receiving core has struggled to catch passes. Mike Evans is Brady’s top target, catching 44 of the 77 passes he’s been targeted on for 617 yards and three touchdowns.
NFL Pick: Seahawks +2.5 (-100)

New Orleans Saints vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
New Orleans Saints
The Saints have had most of their team stuck on the NFL injury report at some point this season. Of all the NFL matchups New Orleans could have, getting a chance to play Pittsburgh on the road isn’t quite as intimidating as it would have been in years past.
Saints’ Offense
The Saints’ offense is scoring 24.9 points per game, which ranks eighth in the NFL. What has been killing the Saints is how they give the ball away.
New Orleans has committed 16 turnovers, which ranks 30th in the league. What has helped the Saints is how Andy Dalton has stepped in for Jameis Winston and given the team a steady veteran presence.
New Orleans’ defense has struggled mightily, finishing in the bottom third of nearly every statistical offensive category.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Making NFL picks on the Steelers this year have been safest on betting the under. Pittsburgh Steelers’s offense is still looking for an identity in the post-Ben Roethlisberger era.
Rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett has struggled with throwing interceptions since he took over.
Steelers’ Offense
The Steelers’ offense is the second-worst scoring unit in the league, only putting up 15.0 points per game. Pittsburgh has also turned the ball over 14 times, which ranks 28th.
The Steelers are hoping that as Pickett gets more experience that he will be able to show steady improvement.
Pittsburgh is also looking forward to getting a chance to play at Acrisure Stadium. Five of the Steelers’ first eight games before their bye last week were played away from home.
Playing in a more friendly environment should help Pickett settle in. However, after two decades without a losing season, Pittsburgh fans may be restless should the struggles continue.
