Now that the college football season is over, it’s time to start thinking about how the top players are going to transition to the next level. The NFL season is still going on, but the bad teams are already working on getting things ready for the 2024 NFL Draft.
2024 NFL Draft Top Prospects
- Pick: Caleb Williams -550.
There is always plenty of hype surrounding the prospects coming out of each draft class, but this might be one of the best draft classes in recent years. It’s not that hard to identify some of the 2024 NFL Draft top prospects, and most of them come from the same position.
Here is a look at the NFL Draft first-pick odds and some of the players that you should expect to see to get drafted in Round 1.
Plenty of Quarterbacks
When you check out the NFL Draft first-pick odds, you are going to notice that one specific position is featured, and that’s usually the case. Teams are always looking for the next star quarterback, and those players tend to have the top NFL Draft odds.
USC quarterback Caleb Williams currently has the bet odds to be the number one overall selection in the NFL Draft as those odds are set at -550. Many predict that he is a player that will have great NFL MVP odds as early as his rookie year, and teams are likely to move up to get him.
There are other quarterbacks that are going to impact NFL matchups early on in their careers, and they could challenge Williams to be the top pick. Drake Maye is considered a great draft prospect as well, and his odds of being the first overall pick are set at +380.
Since Williams and Maye are considered above the rest of the quarterbacks, you aren’t going to see great odds for the other quarterbacks to move up in the draft. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t great prospects in that position, including Michael Penix Jr. and J.J. McCarthy.
Teams are always looking for players that won’t show up on the NFL injury report, and finding players that tend to remain healthy will be a major key.
NFL Draft first-pick odds
It’s widely assumed that a quarterback is going to be chosen first, but you can still look at the NFL Draft first pick odds to see some of the other top odds. Before discussing some of the other top prospects, here is a look at the odds:
- Marvin Harrison Jr.+1000
- Joe Alt +8000
- J.T. Tuimoloau +8000
- Michael Hall Jr. +10000
- Olumuyiwa Fashanu +10000
Marvin Harrison Jr. is expected to be one of the players that can impact NFL standings and he is the best wide receiver in this class. There is a chance that teams could move up to take him, but getting him at number one overall would appear to be a bit of a stretch.
The NFL Draft schedule will once again have just one round on the first day, and you should expect to see these players listed above chosen on the first night. It really starts to get down to fit after the first few picks, but these players will make an impact on any team.
The franchises with an early draft pick all had poor NFL team stats during the 2023-24 season and that is why they are drafting in this position.
Quarterbacks Will Be Featured
The release of the NFL schedule is always a day that is celebrated by fans, but that pales in comparison to how popular the draft is. This has the potential to be one of the most memorable NFL Drafts of the last few years, especially with so many top prospects.
You should also see plenty of trades throughout the first round as teams are looking for prospects that will have great NFL player stats. This is going to be the year of the quarterback, and that should be your focus if you are going to bet on this market.
Caleb Williams has the best draft odds for a reason as he is considered a can’t-miss type prospect that teams are going to covet. You should expect Williams to be drafted first overall, but there are so many other great prospects that will go in the first round.
- Pick: Caleb Williams -550.
