State of Origin is the pinnacle of representative rugby league in Australia, and Game 2 on Wednesday should live up to the hype.
We have NRL betting tips for Game 2 between the Queensland Maroons and New South Wales Blues, where the Maroons have a 1-0 lead.
They are -120 favorites, but most of the money has come for the Blues to even the series and take it to a decider in Queensland. It’s time to start with our State of Origin predictions.

Queensland Maroons vs New South Wales Blues Odds
Team | Hcp | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Queensland Maroons | +2½ -154 | -120 | O 36½ -133 |
New South Wales Blues | -2½ +114 | -118 | U 36½ -107 |
The Maroons opened at -120, but strong money has come for the Blues.
The NRL betting odds have them almost at even odds, and with the way betting trends are going, the Blues could start as the favorite.
The current points total is 36.5, and we expect money to come for the over. Both NRL teams have exceptional try-scoring players, and it could be a high-scoring contest.
Our State of Origin predictions expect around 6-7 tries throughout the game, which should see the over cash.

Maroons to Seal Series
![Queensland Maroons logo](data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg'%20width='400'%20height='400'%20viewBox='0%200%20400%20400'%3E%3C/svg%3E)
The Maroons are a great chance to wrap up the series 2-0, and we’re surprised by the betting moves.
There is no reason to jump off their back after winning Game 1 with ease, and the changes they have made to the team don’t hurt their chances.
Playing in Melbourne is another positive. The crowd should be mostly on Queensland, with many of Melbourne’s players suiting up for the Maroons.
With Reece Walsh at fullback, following his concussion in the opening game, he will add a lot to the team. He was knocked out in the early stages, so he played barely any minutes.
We expect him to return to fine order, and he’s the most dynamic player on the field.
Key Injuries
J’maine Hopgood and Selwyn Cobbo make way for the returning players, but there are no key injuries for Queensland.
Betting Trends
Most of the money has come for the Blues, and the Maroons have drifted significantly since markets opened.

Blues Hoping to End Blues

Winning State of Origin games has been tough for the Blues, who are hoping to end a run of outs.
They have made several changes after losing Game 1, a total of seven in total. That’s significant, but the Blues often change after losing the first game.
Mitchell Moses comes in for the dropped Nicho Hynes, and many believe bringing in Latrell Mitchell will make a big difference.
We can’t agree as Mitchell has had his chance to shine in the past, but he’s not the player the Blues need to turn things around.
Key Injuries
Hudson Young, James Tedesco, Joseph Sua’ali’i, Matt Burton, and Hynes are out of the team.
There are seven new players for the Blues, which helps strengthen up the forward pack.
Betting Trends
It’s hard to look past the money coming for the Blues with our NRL betting tips, but we think it’s misguided.
The Blues have their backs against the wall, and we rated this team as one of the worst in recent history.
Maroons to Run Rampant
We’re confidently picking the Maroons to win Game 2 on Wednesday in our State of Origin predictions.
They are the much better team after winning the opening game without raising a sweat, and there shouldn’t be much of a difference.
Queensland loves winning Game 2 and wrapping up the series, so we’re picking it to seal the series.
They have dominated State of Origin over the last few years, and they couldn’t have been more impressive in Game 1. Getting the Maroons at -120 is a better price than expected. We rated them around -160, so take the -120 odds for the mightly Maroons. Hope you enjoyed our NRL picks!
