When you bet on motorsports, you must prepare for anything to happen in the race, even when one driver stands above the rest, especially in a competitive and essentially spec series like NASCAR or IndyCar.
Chip Ganassi’s Álex Palou – the 2021 IndyCar Champion – has won the last two races and is poised to run away with his second IndyCar Drivers’ Championship and potentially onto papaya-colored pastures in 2024. Can anyone catch and pass Palou? Insidersbettingdigest gets into the recent results and the betting favorites for our Indy 200 predictions and betting preview.

Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course Information
The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is a 2.258-mile road course known for its challenging layout. Mid-Ohio offers high-speed straights, tight, technical, and flowing sections – like the Esses (turns 6-8) – along with “Thunder Valley” and the notorious “Keyhole Corner” (turn 2) – a right-handed hairpin where braking perfectly will be the difference between surviving lap one or overtaking later in the race.
Honda Indy 200 Recent Results
Mid-Ohio is the ninth stop on the 17-race IndyCar schedule and is a favorite among drivers and fans alike. With Mid-Ohio being a series mainstay since 2007, previous success at a track is always important, and our Indy 200 predictions are no exception.
Josef Newgarden is one of three Team Penske drivers holding wins at Mid-Ohio, winning in 2018 and 2021. Team Penske teammate Will Power won the first Mid-Ohio race in 2020, while Scott McLaughlin won the most recent race at Mid-Ohio in 2022.
Andretti Autosport’s Colton Herta won the second Mid-Ohio race in 2020.
Chip Ganassi is an IndyCar-dominating force but features one previous Mid-Ohio winner on Sunday’s grid. Scott Dixon is the winningest IndyCar driver at Mid-Ohio, winning six times (2007, 2009, 2011-2012, 2014, 2019) in his lengthy career.
Arrow McLaren’s Alexander Rossi won this race in 2018.
IndyCar Honda 200 2023 Betting Prediction
Álex Palou
Insidersbettingdigest’s Indy 200 predictions start with the likely IndyCar World Champion Álex Palou. If you aren’t considering picks on Palou to finish in the top five or win at Mid-Ohio, you likely haven’t been paying attention to IndyCar. Palou has won three of the past four races and finished in the top five in seven of the eight races this season.
Josef Newgarden
Our second Indy 200 prediction is to consider Josef Newgarden as a potential three-time winner at Mid-Ohio and close the gap to Palou. While Newgarden only has three top-five finishes this season, he has two race wins – including the Indy 500 – and one second-place finish.
Pato O’Ward
Our final Indy 200 prediction is to consider taking Pato O’Ward for the race win. O’Ward has five top-five finishes this season, with three second-place finishes and a third-place finish last week at Road America. O’Ward looks primed to break out and give Arrow McLaren its first race win of the season.
Scott Dixon
You must consider former six-time IndyCar Champion Scott Dixon among your picks. Dixon has four top-five finishes and seven top-ten finishes this season.
