Burnley Football Club is an English professional football club based in the town of Burnley, Lancashire. The club was founded in 1882 and currently plays in the Premier League, the top flight of English football.
Burnley is one of the oldest clubs in England and one of the most successful. The club has won two First Division titles (1920–21 and 1959–60), one FA Cup (1914) and one League Cup (1962).
Burnley has played in the Premier League for seven seasons since 2009. The club achieved their best finish in the Premier League in the 2016–17 season, when they finished in seventh place.

Burnley Football Club entered the Football League in 1888, being one of the twelve founding clubs of the league. The club has played in the Football League ever since, with the exception of the 1970–71 and 1971–72 seasons, when the club played in the Fourth Division.
